Dr. Newby is the founder of Veritas HR Workplace Solutions & Investigations, bringing more than 30 years of experience in public education, including 20 years in school administration. Throughout his career, he developed extensive expertise in human resources, employee relations, workplace investigations, and organizational leadership.

Before retiring from public education, Dr. Newby served as Superintendent of Grass Lake School District, where he was responsible for all aspects of district leadership, including human resources, personnel matters, employee relations, policy implementation, and workplace investigations. Prior to his superintendency, he served as an Associate Superintendent with Waukegan Public Schools, where his responsibilities included significant work in human resources and the investigation of complex personnel and workplace matters.

Dr. Newby's investigative background extends beyond education. Prior to beginning his career in public schools, he served as a sworn police officer and continued working in law enforcement on a part-time basis for approximately ten years. That experience provided a strong foundation in interviewing, evidence gathering, documentation, credibility assessment, and objective fact-finding—skills that have remained central throughout his career.

The name Veritas, Latin for truth, reflects Dr. Newby's philosophy toward investigative work. He believes effective investigations require patience, objectivity, thoroughness, and a willingness to follow the facts wherever they lead. He enjoys the challenges inherent in complex investigations and the satisfaction that comes from bringing clarity and truth to difficult situations.

Dr. Newby combines his experience in education, human resources, school administration, and law enforcement with a structured investigative methodology designed to produce unbiased, fact-based, thorough, and legally defensible findings. He understands the unique environment in which public school districts operate and the importance of conducting sensitive investigations with professionalism, discretion, fairness, and respect for everyone involved.

Dr. Newby remains an active retired member of the Illinois Association of School Personnel Administrators (IASPA) and the Illinois Association of School Administrators (IASA).
